01 / Locked out
Tell us whether the key is inside, missing or no longer turns. Entry and changing future access are separate decisions.
Home lockout help02 / Keys changed
List the doors and cylinders you want included. We can discuss rekeying before you replace sound hardware.
Explore rekeying01 / Entry
A key on the counter and a key that vanished on the street call for different follow-up.
Tell dispatch which entrance is locked, whether another approved way in exists and whether the lock had been sticking. For an apartment, give the building and unit as well as the street address. We will need to establish that you are authorized to enter.
Once the door opens, decide whether the original problem is solved. If a key is missing and can be linked to your address, discuss changing the lock’s keying. If the door still binds, describe that too. Entry alone does not fix a damaged lock.

Say where the working key is and whether the latch, deadbolt or both are locked. Mention any approved alternate entrance before entry work begins.
Explain whether someone could connect it to your home and which doors it opens. Discuss future access once the immediate lockout is resolved.
Have identification and any manager authorization ready. Give the building and unit, and tell dispatch if the documents you need are locked inside.
02 / Keys
A move, a former housemate or an unaccounted-for spare can make the key plan more urgent than the lock itself.
Rekeying changes the key that operates a suitable cylinder. Make a list of front, side, garage and patio doors, then count the keyed cylinders on each. If you want one key to work across several openings, say so before choosing replacement hardware. Similar-looking locks are not always compatible.
For routine spares, start with a reliable original. A worn copy that needs a wiggle can pass the same problem to another key. Test each new copy in the doors it should open before you hand it to a sitter or put it away.

A front door with a knob and deadbolt may need two cylinders included in the scope. List the other keyed doors before the quote.
Tell us which doors should share a key, including garage or side entries. The existing keyways and hardware determine what is possible.
Copy from a key that works smoothly, then test the duplicates in each intended door before handing them to someone else or storing them.
03 / Hardware
A new lock will not straighten a door or hold in a split frame.
If a key snapped, keep the pieces and stop pushing another key into the cylinder. Extraction should include a look at why it broke. After damage to an entry, describe the frame, strike and latch as well as the lock so the work addresses the part that no longer secures.
For a smart lock, start with the fit and alignment of the door, then choose the features you will use. A motorized deadbolt still needs a door that closes and latches cleanly. Confirm what the exact model needs before buying it.

Keep the pieces and stop pushing another key into the cylinder. Tell us whether the lock was binding before it broke.
Describe the frame, strike and latch as well as the cylinder. A new lock alone cannot repair a split frame.
Have the chosen model and door details ready. Features depend on the exact lock, its setup and a door that aligns.
04 / Other access
Each needs a different first question before anyone chooses hardware.
For a mailbox lock, identify who owns and maintains the compartment. A tenant lock and carrier access are separate matters. For a safe, give the maker, model and symptom without sharing the combination or contents publicly; opening it and restoring it for continued use are separate outcomes.
For cameras, start with what you need to see, such as a porch approach or side gate, then discuss nighttime views, recording access and who will manage the system. The right placement depends on the property and the task, not a camera count.

Name the compartment owner and manager. Work on a tenant compartment is distinct from carrier access, which follows another service process.
Share the maker, model and symptom. Discuss whether the goal is entry alone or a safe that can be used afterward.
Identify the area to see, when the view matters and who needs recordings. Those details matter more than choosing a camera count.
Before the visit
Start with the address and the change you need. Add access instructions that a street address leaves out.

Share the unit, building entrance, gate access or parking instructions. A leasing office may be on another side of the property.
Entry, a changed key, a working latch and a new lock are different scopes. Ask what parts and labor the quote includes.
Operate the door yourself and test the agreed keys or electronic access. Keep the invoice and model details.
How service starts
Tell us what changed, then approve the work that fits the opening.
Give the address, entrance and symptom. Mention damage or a key that no longer works.
Dispatch discusses current availability and what to have ready to establish access.
Review the proposed work, parts and price before work begins.
Test the door and keys or agreed electronic functions at handoff.
Tell us which door needs work and what lock is on it. We can discuss repair, rekeying or a model that fits.
