Start with what happened.
A storefront key that will not turn at opening time needs a different visit from an office access update planned for next week. 512 Locksmith helps with both along Research Boulevard in Austin, as well as home and vehicle lock problems. Tell us the street number, suite and correct entrance when you call. If your address is on a service road, include the side and direction so we can find the work area. Our dispatch takes calls 24 hours at (512) 777-0021. If someone is in immediate danger, call 911 first.
Commercial entrances: front doors and service exits
A business may have a glass storefront at the front and a separate delivery or staff door at the back. Tell us which one is causing trouble and what happens during normal use. Does the key resist turning, does the door stop short of closing, or does it close but fail to latch? Those observations help us prepare. On arrival, we check how the door, closer and lock work together before proposing a repair.
A door that slams or stops short may need attention to the closer, hinges or alignment. Visible oil around the closer is worth mentioning too. We explain whether adjustment, repair or replacement is appropriate after checking the opening. Turning a closer adjustment is not a cure for a sagging door. On a rear exit, the existing fire and exit requirements also shape the choice of hardware. We can help with door closers and exit devices while keeping the way out part of the repair plan.
Suite turnover and staff access control
For a suite turnover, start with a list of every keyed entrance and who should use it. We can rekey serviceable, compatible cylinders so the old keys no longer work, often while keeping the existing handles. If a key is restricted or the building owner controls a shared system, involve that administrator before the appointment. The work can then cover the doors you control without disrupting neighboring tenants.
An electronic system can make staff changes easier to manage. Instead of circulating another shared key, an administrator assigns individual access and can remove a lost fob from the system. HID Signo 40 is one reader example, but its supported credentials and controller must fit the overall system. We help you identify the existing equipment and account owner before recommending changes. Access updates must reach the relevant doors; physical backup keys need their own plan. Our access control service covers those decisions without assuming every reader can accept every phone or fob.
Parking lot gates and perimeter security
If a parking or delivery gate protects your premises, include it in the access plan. A gate that moves normally but ignores one remote has a different starting point from a gate that stops halfway for every user. We repair and install automatic gates as well as their locks and access controls. Describe the normal-use symptoms and provide the operator label if it is safely visible. Keep clear of a gate that moves unexpectedly.
A shared fob for the building and gate can be convenient where both systems support it. We check that compatibility before planning the change. For an exposed pedestrian gate, weather suitability and the way people leave matter as much as the locking method. We also review how the system should behave when power or connectivity is unavailable. Safety devices on an automatic gate must remain in service; bypassing them is not part of restoring normal access.
Automotive keys on the frontage road
A car lockout in a busy retail parking lot off Research Boulevard interrupts your entire schedule. When you call for help, identifying your exact parking location along the northbound or southbound service road helps dispatch route a technician efficiently. Automotive lockouts require techniques adapted to the specific make and model of your car.
If no working vehicle key remains, tell us that at the start of the call. We check the year, make, model and replacement requirements before arranging the job. A spare key, a lost fob and a remote with broken buttons can involve different work. We explain what will be cut, programmed and tested for your vehicle. Read about car key replacement or car lockouts if you need to separate replacement from entry alone.
Apartment and condo hardware
We also help with residential doors along the corridor and surrounding streets. For a rented unit, have the resident and property manager agree on the work, particularly when a shared entry or restricted key is involved. A move-in rekey is a good time to check whether the deadbolt turns easily and the door latches properly. A sticking lock may need more than a new key. Our residential rekeying service explains how we keep useful hardware while changing access.
Plan the repair visit
Before a planned appointment, count the locks and gather the keys that still work. For a business, also decide who can approve the repair and whether a door can be briefly taken out of use. The quote depends on the number and type of locks, their condition, replacement parts and any electronic setup. We separate the immediate repair from optional changes so you can decide what to do now.
At handover, we test the work with you: the key should operate the agreed locks, a repaired door should close and latch, and an access change should work for the intended users. Keep a record of who receives each key or account. Serving Austin for more than a decade, 512 Locksmith works under Texas license B07298601. Should a tenant or building manager book a storefront repair?
The person who controls the opening should authorize the work. A tenant may control the suite lock while management controls a shared entry, restricted key system or fire-door changes. Identify that contact when booking so the repair can proceed with the right approval and clear limits.
What if the key works but the storefront does not stay shut?
Tell us whether it fails every time or under particular conditions such as wind. We check the closing action, alignment and latch together. Rekeying changes which key works; it does not by itself make the door close. The quote should cover the actual fault you want repaired.
Must we replace readers when a business changes hands?
Not necessarily. A useful first step is confirming ownership of the administrator account, controller and subscriptions. Existing equipment may remain suitable after an authorized access update. If credentials, accounts or equipment cannot transfer, we explain the available options before recommending replacement.
Can you meet me in a parking lot off Research Boulevard?
We provide mobile vehicle service along the corridor. Give the street address, lot entrance and the location of your car within the lot. Tell us if the vehicle is locked, if a working key remains and whether there is a safe place for the technician to work.
