Keys for the house, garage and guest space
If your Marble Falls property includes a detached garage or guest space, include those doors in the key plan. Decide which users should have access to the house and which only need an outbuilding. One key is convenient, but separate access may be useful. See residential lock services.
For doors to share a key, the cylinders and keyways must be compatible. A matching brand or finish does not settle that question. We can assess the existing hardware and explain whether selected cylinders can be changed, a lock needs replacement or keeping separate keys is the simpler choice. A master key plan is different from keying everything alike: it can provide selected access groups rather than the same access for every user.
Rekeying changes which key operates an existing lock. On a conventional pin-cylinder lock, that involves changing the internal pins to match a new key. It is usually more practical than replacing the entire lock assembly unless the hardware is physically damaged, severely weathered, or you are upgrading to a different format, such as a keypad deadbolt.
