Property security: repairing versus replacing
When a lock stops turning smoothly, the entire unit does not always require replacement. Sometimes a deadbolt simply needs an internal lock repair, a fresh cylinder, or adjustment of the strike plate. Other situations call for a full hardware upgrade to restore proper function. If your outbuilding, shop, or main home door uses standard mechanical hardware, we assess the current condition to determine the most effective route.
Replacing the lock body makes sense when the internal metal has degraded or when you want to shift to a different style. Upgrading to electronic options, like a Schlage Encode Plus that supports Wi-Fi and a compatible Apple home key, changes how you manage entry.
When you move into a new property or lose a spare key, lock rekeying is an option for suitable cylinders. Rekeying changes which key operates a compatible cylinder without altering the door alignment or requiring a completely new lock body. We plan and test the change so previous operating keys no longer work in the serviced cylinders. You can also choose who holds each key.
A master key system allows one key to operate multiple different locks while individual users carry keys that open only their specific doors. This is highly useful for outbuildings, shared storage, and secondary structures. If you prefer a simpler setup, multiple compatible locks can be keyed alike so that one key opens the selected doors. We also help match padlocks for heavy equipment, trailers, and gates to your primary property keyway, provided the cylinders share a compatible design and manufacturer profile.
