Controlling house keys and smart locks
After a move or a change in household access, rekeying can change the operating key for compatible cylinders while retaining usable hardware. We agree which doors and key access are included, then test the serviced locks. If an existing master-key arrangement needs to remain, discuss that before changing the keys.
If a key has become difficult to turn, we check the key, cylinder and door fit together. Pushing the door to help the deadbolt move is a useful symptom to report, but it does not establish the complete cause. A rekey changes physical key access; any damaged lock or alignment problem needs separate attention.
A smart lock can make guest entry easier to manage. Schlage Encode Plus offers Wi-Fi features and Apple home key on compatible Apple devices. Compare models around the access routine you want rather than assuming every phone or network feature is included. We check the fit, set up the agreed functions and explain account control and the manufacturer-approved backup-entry method.
For a mailbox key problem, establish who owns and manages the equipment before arranging work. USPS-owned and privately maintained boxes can require different procedures. For an authorized private-box repair, a photo of the lock and door helps identify the part. If a key has broken, stop forcing it and keep any pieces you have.
